DJ Thump And Friends Bless Las Vegas Family With Presents, 7FT Tree And Dinner Spread

December is the month known for spreading holiday cheer, taking photos with Santa and sipping on hot cocoa with marshmallows.

Las Vegas Is A Community That Gives

Las Vegas is a city that jumps into holidays feet first which isn’t always a bad thing. Locals will witness garland on mall lamp poles, special drinks in decorative cups, and winter wonderland experiences that create memories for a lifetime. The city of Las Vegas doesn’t always get the reputation of being a community. A community is when people come together to help one another out. Though we as a city have experienced major tragedies, we come back stronger each and every time. We are a city that is resilient with wonderful people with big hearts who don’t always get recognized. We are #VegasStrong.

Our morning show host, DJ Thump, who was recently awarded the Community Servant Award by the Nation’s Capitol, has big plans this holiday season. Thump devotes his life to giving back to the community and if there is one thing he will accomplish, it’s that. Thump reached out on social media with the mission to make a families holiday merrier. Growing up in Southern California, DJ Thump, faced many days that were challenging. Thump says, “It takes a village, and for a lot of people it may sound cliché but it takes us all to help each other.” When Thump reached out to some of his closest friends, “without hesitation they answered the call and went above my expectations,” he says. Thumpa Claus received dozens of letters nominating deserving locals to receive a holiday experience unlike any other.

The Winning Family

A pain-staking winning letter was chosen written by Vegas local, Nicole Williams. In Nicole’s letter she spoke about trying times for her niece Gina, who is a mother of two kids. Gina is a very generous person because though she is going through hard times, she opened her home to another mother and her three kids. The letter spoke volumes on the trials and tribulations we go through as parents emotionally, mentally and physically. Where there is hard times, better days are to come.

Thumpa Claus brought the twinkling magic of the holidays to Gina and her family with the help of many generous elves. Ward 5 City Councilman Cedric Crear provided many toys, and a huge dinner spread with delectable bites. Trina Jiles from Gritz Cafe surprised the family with a seven ft tall Christmas tree (with decorations), and Charlie Mac helped fill Thumpa Claus’ bag with more toys including a Barbie Dream House, Hot Wheels and video games.
