Experienced Leadership
Cedric Crear is one of Las Vegas’ most devoted public servants. Prior to joining the Las Vegas City Council as the representative from Ward 5, Cedric served as University Regent for two terms and is the only person in Las Vegas history to serve simultaneously as a Higher Education Regent AND Las Vegas Planning Commissioner.
Cedric has a deep passion for the Las Vegas community and describes the essence of his service as "leading by example." His commitment to public service is recognized throughout Nevada and that’s why he was elected by his peers throughout the state as President of the Nevada League of Cities. No one has the depth and breadth of experience that Cedric Crear brings to the table in the campaign for Mayor of Las Vegas.
Deep Roots in the Community
Cedric grew up in the heart of the Las Vegas community and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he received a tennis scholarship. He was also captain of the team for three years and a two-time conference champion.
Councilman Crear previously worked as a marketing director in the casino industry, proving himself a strong leader with a keen sense for successfully promoting small-businesses. Since then, he went on to found Crear Creative Group, which provides full-service marketing, advertising and consulting solutions to regional and global businesses. Cedric has served as president of the company since it was founded in 2010 and serves as president of sister company Crear Outdoor Advertising.
Dedication to Public Service
In his first elected office, Cedric served on the Board of Regents for the Nevada System of Higher Education. First elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2012 as the representative for District 1, he served as chair of the Cultural Diversity and Title IX Compliance Committee and vice chair of the Business, Finance and Facilities and Investment Committees.
Family-Oriented & Community-Driven
In addition to his service as Regent, in 2015, Cedric was appointed as a Las Vegas Planning Commissioner. Councilman Crear also served on the Board of Directors for The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and as Chairman of both the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross and Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.

Cedric and his wife Keiba have been married for over 25 years and are parents of two daughters, Hagan and Kennedy, and reside in West Las Vegas.
