Councilman Cedric Crear represents Ward 5. He won the March 27, 2018, Special Election to complete the council term that ends in 2019. He then won reelection to a full four-year-term in the April, 2019 election. Cedric has a deep passion for the Las Vegas community and describes his style as one who "leads by example."
Deep Roots in the Community
Cedric grew up right here in Ward 5 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he received a tennis scholarship. He was also captain of the team for three years and a two-time conference champion.
Councilman Crear previously worked for Station Casinos as a marketing director, proving himself a capable leader while working at the company's most elite properties. Since then, he went on to found Crear Creative Group, which provides full-service marketing, advertising and consulting solutions to regional and global businesses. Cedric has served as president of the company since it was founded in 2010 and serves as president of sister company Crear Outdoor Advertising.
Dedication to Public Service
In his first elected office, Cedric served on the Board of Regents for the Nevada System of Higher Education. First elected in 2006, and re-elected in 2012 as the representative for District 1, he served as chair of the Cultural Diversity and Title IX Compliance Committee and vice chair of the Business, Finance and Facilities and Investment Committees.
Community Service and Family Oriented
In addition to his service as Regent, in 2015, Cedric was appointed as a Las Vegas Planning Commissioner. Councilman Crear also served as a board member of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and chair of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Cedric and his wife Keiba have been married for 23 years and are parents of two daughters, Hagan and Kennedy, and reside in West Las Vegas.
